Mixed Fortunes at Pembrey
Mixed fortunes best describe the Radical Festival at Pembrey for RSR. 9 cars, 4 qualifying sessions, 8 races, 7 cars qualifying in the top 6, 11 not classified and 9 top 6 finishes, including a win, 2 second places and 1 third, loads of bodywork damaged and one engine replaced. Sounds like a seasons worth of racing? All in a weekends work for the RSR team. Nigel and Jonathan dominated race 3, winning by 30 seconds, while Adrian Mardlin and Duncan Williams qualified 2nd for race 3 and 4 respectively. At the other end of the grid, Bob Sands didn't see a chequered flag all weekend, and Tony Freeman did about as much damage in one weekend as the whole of last season. Following much bodywork damage in previous races, an engine failure for Tony on Sunday saw everybody 'mucking in' to help get a new engine into the car just minutes before the last race. Pembrey saw RSR welcome another new driver to the team. Tony Holdich ran well in his Prosport and finished all 4 races - we look forward to working with him during the remainder of the season. Finally, RSR welcomed back an old friend at Pembrey. Bringing a much need touch of class to the team, Steve Lord competed in Brian Casey's Clubsport.
"Such a busy weekend is always going to be tough on cars, drivers and mechanics, but I don't mind really 'cos it'll soon be Monday morning and I'll be on the golf course while everybody else will be back at work!" Team Principle, Woody.
