Coleman and Greensall unbeatable at Brands Pole position, fastest lap and 2 race wins - not a bad weekends work for Jonathan Coleman and Nigel Greensall! Racing on the rarely used Grand Prix circuit, the duo in the Howards Group car were simply unbeatable. Having finally solved the handling problems which have plagued the car since the start of the season, Nigel put the car on pole by a full second. Race 1 saw Martin Donnelly chasing race leader Nigel, but the lead never looked in doubt. After the driver change and following a brief safety car period, Jonathan made a fantastic restart and held the lead comfortably to the finish. Race 2 saw Nigel again pull away from the field and Jono putting in consistent, fast laps to bring the car to the finish. Throughout the whole weekend the car was P1 for all but 2 laps. "I'm so happy for Nigel and Jono, the car is finally worthy of them and this is where they should be" - Woody.
In the Biduros, Duncan Williams had another good weekend, qualifying effectively in Pole Position (discounting Michael Vergers as it is only fair to do in an amateur championship, and Duncan was only a tenth off anyway!). Race 1 saw Duncan finish 4th behind Verges, Kaiser and Cook, other RSR drivers Tony Freeman and Adrian Mardlin 6th and 7th. Following engine problems on Friday, Simon Garmston finished a creditable 15th considering no testing and one eye fixed on the Oil Temperature throughout the race. Another new face at RSR, and returning to racing after several years - Alan Burrows finished in 20th place. Race 2 inevitably saw Verges take the lead, but pressure/overtaking from Kaiser and/or mechanical problems forced an early retirement. Lucky for Verges though he managed to make it back to the pits, thus saving a long walk round the Grand Prix circuit. Duncan finished 3rd, Adrian Mardlin 9th and Simon Garmston 11th - despite bodywork damage sustained early on in the race. |
